Why can’t I see push-notifications for RecurPost on my Android?

NOTE: There’s an update in the procedure to solve battery optimization issues. Please head over here to follow the new procedure.

We have come across some cases where the push notifications do not seem to be working on certain Android smartphones, particularly Huawei and Samsung Galaxy branded ones.

This could be due to their proprietary features and aggressive battery saving methods. All you need to do for this is to follow the simple steps and you will start receiving push notifications from RecurPost instantly.

You can proceed with the following steps –

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Advanced > Ignore Battery Optimizations.
Here, you need to find RecurPost and ‘ignore’ it. Do not get misled by any kind of warnings. In this case ‘ignoring’ means actually letting the app run. We are just telling the battery optimization function to ‘ignore’ RecurPost.
  2. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery Manager > Protected Apps.
Find RecurPost from the list of apps you want notifications from and proceed to ‘protect’ it. This is a way of ‘whitelisting’ the app so that Huawei’s overeager software does not shut it down for any reason.
  3. Go to Settings > Notification Panel & Status Bar > Notification Center.
Find the RecurPost app here and activate ‘priority display’ and allow notifications. Both need to be activated so that you get the notifications.

Once this is done, you can restart your phone and you are good to go.
