At times, it may be necessary to mention or tag other social accounts in your posts in order to increase their visibility or establish a direct connection with them. Whether it’s for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn, this help page will guide you through the process of adding mentions (tags) in your posts.

1. Facebook Page Mentions

When scheduling a post to be shared on a Facebook page, you can mention other Facebook pages within your post. To mention a Facebook page, follow these steps:

  • In the text box, type the “@” symbol in your post.
  • Start typing the first few letters of the Facebook page’s name and then matching results will appear.
  • You can select the desired page from the search results.

Suggestion: If the page name contains spaces, please use underscores to replace the spaces. For example, the page name is “Marks and Spencer”, then it can be typed as “Marks_and_Spencer” to improve search results. Simply copy the username from the URL of the page, like “MarksandSpencerIndia“, and paste it to find the page.

Tagging LinkedIn Personal Profiles on Company Pages

When you publish a post to a LinkedIn Company Page through RecurPost, you can now tag personal LinkedIn profiles too. This makes it easy to give credit to team members, partners, customers, or anyone else connected to your post.

To tag a personal profile:

  • In the text box, type the “@” symbol followed by the person’s name.
  • RecurPost will show matching LinkedIn profiles for selection.
  • Select the right profile. It will be tagged in your published post.

Requirements for tagging personal profiles:

  1. The tagged person must follow the LinkedIn Company Page you’re posting from. LinkedIn only allows Page posts to mention profiles that follow that page.
  2. If you connected your LinkedIn Page before this update, reconnect it. LinkedIn requires extra permissions for profile tagging, and older connections don’t have them yet. New connections include this permission automatically.

If profile suggestions don’t appear, or mentions don’t work:

  • Check that the person follows your LinkedIn Company Page.
  • Reconnect your LinkedIn Page connection in RecurPost from the Social Profiles menu.

Note: LinkedIn Profiles and Groups still can’t be tagged when posting from a personal LinkedIn profile, due to LinkedIn’s API limits. Profile tagging is only available on posts published to LinkedIn Company Pages.

4. Instagram Mentions

Unfortunately, the mentions will not be pulled automatically when you start typing a few letters, like the above accounts, due to API limitations. Nevertheless, you can manually include mentions in your Instagram posts by directly typing the desired handle you wish to mention.

Once published to Instagram, the mentioned account will become hyperlinked.

Note: It is not possible to tag Instagram users in your caption with the search results using RecurPost at the moment due to Facebook’s API limitations.

5. Threads Mentions

The mentions will not be pulled automatically when you start typing a few letters, like the above platforms, due to Meta’s API limitations. Nevertheless, you can manually include mentions in your Threads posts by directly typing the desired handle you wish to mention, as shown below.

Once the post is shared to Threads, the mentioned account will become hyperlinked on Threads.

Note: It is not possible to tag Threads users in your caption with the search results using RecurPost at the moment due to Meta’s API limitations.

6. Bluesky Mentions

The mentions will not be pulled automatically when you start typing a few letters, like Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn. Bluesky currently doesn’t provide an official API for all the third-party apps. Instead, all third-party posting happens through user-created apps that connect using login credentials. Because of this, Bluesky doesn’t allow third-party tools to drop suggestions while using @mentions in the post.

However, you can still use @mention in your Bluesky by manually including mentions in your posts by directly typing the desired handle you wish to mention, as shown below.

If Bluesky introduces an API in the future, we’ll definitely look into supporting these features. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Once the post is shared to Bluesky, the mentioned account will become hyperlinked on Bluesky.

In conclusion, tagging social media accounts in your posts can significantly boost engagement and visibility. By following the outlined steps for each platform, you can effectively mention relevant accounts, enhancing your social media strategy.

Important Points to Note:

  1. You can mention (tag) Facebook pages, LinkedIn pages, LinkedIn personal profiles on Company Page posts, Twitter profiles, Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky profiles in posts scheduled through RecurPost.
  2. Currently, it is not possible to mention Facebook profiles, Facebook groups, or Pinterest profiles in posts scheduled through RecurPost. LinkedIn personal profiles can only be tagged on posts going to a LinkedIn Company Page, and only if the tagged person follows that page.

We hope this guide has helped you understand the process of adding mentions (tags) in your social media posts.
