1. Facebook Personal Profile

When using third-party apps like RecurPost, that integrate with Facebook Pages or Groups, you may need to authenticate the app using your personal Facebook profile while adding the page and groups to the third-party app. This process grants the app access to interact with the Pages or Groups you manage based on the permissions you provide.

Facebook Personal Profile With Professional Mode on:

By enabling professional mode, creators can use their profiles to communicate with their followers. When a creator activates the professional mode, anybody can view the author’s public content in their Feed and follow their profile. If you have professional mode enabled on your profile, you can still share information and posts with just your friends or with a public audience. To view your profile, go to the top of Facebook and click or press your name or profile image.

2. Facebook Business Profile

A Facebook Business Profile is also considered a Facebook Page.

Pages on Facebook are dedicated spaces for artists, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations, and charities to connect with their audience, fans, or customers. To create or manage a Facebook page, you’ll need to have a personal Facebook profile.

When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they will start seeing updates and posts from that Page in their News Feed. This allows individuals to stay connected with their favorite artists, businesses, or organizations and receive updates about their activities, promotions, or other important information.

Pages offer various features and tools to help Page admins engage with their audience effectively. This includes posting updates, sharing photos and videos, hosting live events, running advertisements, and analyzing page insights to gain valuable information about the page’s performance and audience engagement.

Creating a Facebook Page is a straightforward process. Once you have a personal profile, you can go to the “Create” section on Facebook and select “Page.” From there, you can choose the appropriate category for your Page, customize its settings, add a profile picture and cover photo, and start posting content to engage with your audience.

One can also go to Meta Business Suite from a Facebook Page. Meta Business Suite gives you access to the tools you need to stay connected across Facebook and Instagram. It is a Facebook Page management tool that allows admins (and certain users with other roles) to handle Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, and Messenger interactions from a single dashboard.

Meta Business Suite allows you to view your business activity, inbox, and insights, and create posts and stories. It offers a variety of free tools that make it easier to manage your online presence. It helps you reach more people and stay up-to-date while managing your business accounts in one place.

3. Instagram Personal Profile

On Instagram, Personal Profiles can be set as either public or private accounts. When a personal profile is set to public, anyone can view the user’s posts, stories, and other information. This is typically the default setting for most Instagram users.

However, if a personal profile is set to private, only approved followers can see the user’s posts, stories, and other content. When someone wants to follow a private account, they need to send a follow request to the account owner. The owner then has the option to approve or deny the request.

Private accounts on Instagram provide users with more control over who can see their content, making it a preferred choice for individuals who want to limit their audience to close friends and family. Public accounts, on the other hand, allow for a wider reach and the possibility of connecting with new people who share similar interests.

4. Instagram Business Profile

Instagram Business Accounts are public accounts that are tailored for businesses, brands, creators, and organizations to effectively utilize the platform for their professional needs. These accounts offer additional features and tools compared to personal accounts, making it easier for businesses to engage with their audience and analyze their content’s performance on the platform.

Instagram provides two types of professional accounts: business accounts and creator accounts. Here’s a brief overview of each type:

1. Business Account: Business accounts on Instagram are designed for brands, organizations, and businesses of all sizes. These accounts offer additional features and tools tailored to help businesses promote their products or services. Some of the key features of business accounts include:

  • Contact Button: Business accounts can include a contact button that allows users to get in touch with the business directly through email, or phone, or get directions to a physical location.
  • Insights and Analytics: Business accounts have access to Instagram Insights, which provides valuable analytics and metrics about post reach, engagement, and follower demographics. This data can help businesses understand their audience and optimize their marketing strategies.
  • Promoted Posts and Ads: Business accounts can promote posts and run advertisements on Instagram to reach a wider audience and increase brand visibility.
  • Integration with Facebook: Business accounts can link to a Facebook page and utilize features like cross-posting, ad management, and messaging integration.

2. Creator Account: Creator accounts are designed for public figures, artists, influencers, content creators, and other individuals who want to build their personal brand on Instagram. Creator accounts offer features that cater specifically to their needs. Some key features of creator accounts include:

  • Flexible Profile Controls: Creator accounts provide more customization options for profile information, allowing creators to highlight their contact details, categories, and more.
  • Growth Insights: Creator accounts offer insights and analytics related to followers, reach, and engagement. Creators can gain insights into the performance of their content and understand their audience better.
  • Direct Collaboration Opportunities: Creators have access to additional tools that facilitate partnerships and collaborations with brands. They can share their insights and analytics with potential collaborators and manage branded content collaborations more easily.
  • Flexible Messaging Filters: Creator accounts provide access to advanced message filtering options to help creators manage their inboxes more efficiently.

Both business and creator accounts have unique features tailored to their respective goals and objectives. Instagram provides these professional account options to cater to the diverse needs of businesses and individuals who want to make the most out of the platform.

Facebook Group

A Facebook Group is a shared space where members post and discuss a common topic. Groups can be public, private or hidden.

How RecurPost posts to it: Facebook’s API does not allow third-party tools to publish to Groups, so RecurPost sends you a push notification at the scheduled time and you complete the post from the RecurPost mobile app. This is the same method used for Facebook Personal Profiles.

Instagram account types, and which one you have

Instagram has three account types, and the type decides what RecurPost can publish for you:

Account typeHow posts publish
BusinessFeed, Story and Reels all publish directly.
CreatorFeed and Reels publish directly. Stories go via push notification.
PersonalEverything goes via push notification to the RecurPost mobile app.

To check which type you have: open the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap the menu at the top right, then Business tools and controls > Switch account type. The options you are offered tell you what you currently are: if it offers to switch you to Personal or Creator, you are on a Business account.

You switch account type in the Instagram app, not in RecurPost. After switching, reconnect the profile in RecurPost so it picks up the new type.

What differs between a Business and a Personal profile

Display Picture

If you have a personal Instagram account, your display/profile picture will not appear in your RecurPost account. It will only be shown in the case of a business account. This is because Facebook has updated its privacy policies and even basic information, such as an Instagram profile picture, will not be displayed inside the RecurPost account.

Post Scheduling

You shall be able to create one-off posts and recurring schedules using RecurPost for posts going out to both Personal and Business profiles.

Instagram Business profiles now support multi-post type publishing. When creating a post, you can select Story and Reels at the same time; there’s no need to build two separate posts.

Here’s how quota works with this feature:

  • Selecting Story + Reels = 2 posts counted toward your quota.
  • Turning on “Share on Feed too” under Reels = only 1 post counted total.

Note: The Feed option gets disabled when Reels is selected. Use the “Share on Feed too” toggle to share your Reel to the Feed instead. This feature is only available for Instagram Business profiles not personal accounts.

Posting Options

You can schedule your posts and use the queue for both Personal and Business profiles.

  1. To share your post on your Instagram personal account, you will receive a push notification from RecurPost when it’s time for your content to be published.
  2. For an Instagram business account, the posts will be published directly without any push notifications.

Note: It is necessary to download the RecurPost app on your mobile device in order to receive push notifications and post your content on your Facebook Profile and Instagram Personal Profile. Our app is available for both Android and iOS users.
